The Mission of the Lakeside Park-Crestview Hills Police Authority
is to form
a partnership with the community and work
within that
partnership
to maintain the public peace and improve the quality of
life by providing
fair and impartial police services in a professional manner.
The Kenton County Police Chiefs Association and Senior Services of Northern Kentucky have partnered to sponsor a program to check daily by telephone on the well being of persons who would like to be checked upon, especially seniors. Here is how it works:
Persons enrolled in the program will receive a recorded message every day at 9am or 11am, it is their choice. The first voice will announce that the participant needs to press any button to receive an important message. Pressing any button alerts the system that it is talking to a person rather than an answering machine. The next voice will instruct the participant to press the number 6 on their telephone if they are ok. The recording will then say, “Thank You, Goodbye.” The participant is then qualified for that day, and nothing else happens.
If anything other than a qualification happens, one of the 9-1-1 dispatchers will call an emergency contact, if one was provided. If that does not prove successful, a police officer will be dispatched to check on the participant. Remember, if you do not hear, "Thank You, Goodbye." you have NOT qualified.
If it is more convenient, the early group can pre-qualify anytime between 8am and 9am and the late group between 10am and 11am, thus avoiding the 9am or 11am call. During that one hour window, they may call 859-392-1996. A recorded voice will ask for their “pin number”. They then enter their pin number, which is their 7-digit home phone number. They will then receive the same instructions they would normally receive. If for any reason they need to be temporarily or permanently dropped from the program, they should call 859-356-3191 anytime to talk to one of the dispatchers. They may also call that non-emergency dispatch number if they have any questions after normal business hours.
Please remind all participants that any time they have an urgent need for life squad, fire or police assistance and they are able to use the telephone, they should still call 9-1-1, just as always. This is not in any way a substitute for 9-1-1.
Persons who would like to enroll in the program or ask any questions should call Senior Services of Northern Kentucky at 859-491-0522. To join, they will need to provide their home telephone number, address, cell phone number (if they have one), and 1 or 2 emergency contact names and phone numbers (not required). The also need to let us know which of the two groups they want to be in, 9 or 11am, and they may provide information regarding medical contition or any special needs.
